New Blankey!! And TONS of snow!

Well, so far no real new updates. Haven't been out to ride lately. It's been really bad. The roads are horrible out here, and the plow forgot us. lol. Because we're at 6in of snow and still no plow on the road. oh well. Well, Savy is finally blanketed!!! Right now she's in her summer turnout blanket, but hey, it's better than nothing!!! My winter one I got for Christmas, is to big, so as soon as we exchange it, I will be able to put it on her! Yay! Well, I know this is a super short post, but, I don't have anything else, so for now, Savvy on!

Hello Everyone!!!!
It's been a LONG time since I last blogged! Sorry about that! I have been SO busy and I have barely had time to get on the computer and check my emails!! But now, it's Christmas break, so I have lots more time!! Here's an update on Savy and I!
Thanksgiving Week- Well, to start with, Savy and I have been training hard for the 2010 show season =] This year, we are actually going to event. I'm so excited. So we have been working quite hard. We have lowered our jump heights a bit but we need to make them higher little by little, because instead of starting our showing out with little jumps, my trainer has decided to take us up to the level we are actually at, which is between 2 and 3 feet. So, we have been working currently on our stadium jumping and cross country. To make things more exciting, Savannah now canters without a problem. For those of you who don't know, when I met Savy almost 6 years ago, she could not canter at all. She could only trot in the back and canter in the front. She was a desperate mess. She hadn't been ridden in almost 5 years and had to be ground trained again when I met her for almost a year. Then we started riding. But even that took quite a bit of time, but I'm now proud to say that I have a horse that pretty much canters with no problems. She has a naturally bumpy canter, but it's quite fun to ride and VERY different from the horse I knew 6 years ago. I'm so proud of her. So as you see in the pictures, there are a bunch of us working over small stadium jumps, but we also worked over a cross country jump that was a little over 2' tall. We are working on counting our strides up to the jump because as you can see in the second picture of the cross country, we took off a bit to early, lol. We also need to work on engaging Savy's hindquarters over the jumps, lol, right now, she's really lazy over the jumps and brings down the jumps quite a bit. lol. We also really need to start our dressage training again, haha, we have really slacked in that department. lol. So more on eventing coming soon!

Now, more recently....

Two weeks after Thanksgiving- It got really cold outside, so we have gotten Savy a blanket. She loves it. lol. Except, she doesn't like to walk in it, lol, it's hilarious. It's now snowed here and there are gigantic drifts outside, Savy thinks they are giant jumps, so the other day, when we were cantering along the cross country course, we came upon a series of drifts that were about 2' go 2'4" tall, she didn't know she could just plow right through them, so we have now added 6 new jumps to our course. lol. We also came upon a drift that is a little over 3' tall and jumps downhill, wow, that was so fun, I couldn't believe she jumped, it, but as we got closer to it, she pushed herself into overdrive and we took flight over it. It was the best feeling ever. lol. It was so fun!!!

Parelli Update:

Well, with all this eventing stuff going on you may think we aren't doing Parelli, but actually have. We have done a bunch of the circling game, which is really fun, a TON of squeeze game cause we are constantly going in the arena and then out again to go on the cross country course, and so we open the gate ourselves =] We have mainly been doing the sideways game though, Savannah can walk and trot sideways with a rider, she can do it off the fence and also against the fence. We have also been doing lots of other things. lol. We have also done a TON of liberty in the arena, ahh!! I'm so excited, we did the sideways game at liberty, I had my stick and we went all the way around the arena sideways, the whole time I was about six feet away from her and she had no halter or line on at all! All she had was her saddle on because I had just finished riding her =] lol. I was SO proud of her!! That is the first picture =] Well thanks for reading! Savvy On!!
