What I’ve learned about patience...

I’ve learned that patience is a very in-depth subject when it comes to dealing with horses. I never really understood how much patience it takes with a horse. I always thought about the “push-button” school horses I used to ride and would think that any horse was like that. But I’ve learned that they’re not. If my horse doesn’t understand something, then I need to be patient and re-explain it in a way that isn’t so confusing. I now see that a personal horse, is VERY different from a school horse that just knows it all. It’s taken some time to build up to where Savy and I are now, but I realize that all it took was a little thing called patience. I realize that I could probably go on and on about this subject, but I think it’s mostly important just to get the point across that its a key thing in your relationship with your horse. I’m still learning more and more everyday about horses. And this was just one step closer.

Everyone loves bareback!

This is actually for yesterday but I didn't have time to update it, so here it is today! :)

Yesterday I was at the barn for 4 hours and it was amazing. The best part about it...riding bareback!! :) It was so fun. I was out there with two other friends and my friend rode her horse, while my other friend switched off with me on Savy. After a little warm-up session and some saddle riding, we decided, "Who needs saddles?!" It was so fun! We galloped around the outdoor arena and raced alot! Who woulda known that Savy is a speed demon?? We won every single time! :) I wish there was an open racetrack around where I live. I would definitely take Savannah just for fun! Anyway, back to yesterday, I've learned how to balance myself when cantering and galloping bareback. I had a great time!

Re-uniting with old friends...

Tomorrow one of my old friends is coming out to see Savy for the first time in years!!! We just found each other on Facebook last year and are meeting up tomorrow for the first time! :) Can't wait!

I probably won't get much time to play with Savy tomorrow, but I know that with every second I'm with her, our relationship grows that much more :)

Straining to meet the goal...YES! We met it!

Well, first of all, Hello to all my followers and fellow bloggers. It's been a long time since I last posted. I'm going to start trying to post everyday. Anyway! Here's an update on Savy and I!

I'm trying to start shifting Savy and I from all riding to more play times and easy riding sessions. I've decided that NH will help Savy and I to grow even more in our relationship everytime we play and spend time together. I've been working on softening my commands when we play. Such as when we do circling or I ask her to back up, I'm trying to get to the point where you barely notice that I'm asking.
Savy is definitely getting there! I'm so proud of her! I've barely had to ask her to do some stuff! I've also been working on trying to concentrate more on what we're doing. I think it's really helping to connect us more. We're going to start working on some new things. Such as circling at liberty, getting her to trot or canter by my side, and I'm thinking about building a pedestal for us to play with :)
I'm quite excited for the play time ahead! I can't wait to see what new things Savy's been hiding from me all this time! ;)

Now, really quick, I was saying earlier how I want to start focusing more on play times and easy riding sessions and less on the hard work-outs. Unfortunately, I had a few friends get me back into the swing of eventing. I will admit that I'm enjoying it. But I want to do focus on natural horsemanship more. So I'm going to start making a point of it :)

Just wanted to share how everything is going and I'll be sure to keep you guys updated more often!
