Expanding the Relationship

Yesterday was such a fun day! Lea came out and played with Savy and I! I had such a great day and learned so much! And...I also graduated Parelli Level 2! Savy and I are now ready to branch out to other natural horsemanship people instead of continuing Parelli. I'm very excited! :)

Anyway, yesterday, I had the thrill of jumping bareback and Lea taught me how to communicate with Savy better while riding and also while doing ground work. I also had the pleasure of being able to watch Lea play with Savy on the ground and also watching Lea ride Savy. I learned alot! I know the one thing I need to work on the most right now is concentration. I think the one thing that Savy and I don't do is connect with each other when I'm riding or working with her. I need to learn to be able to think and then she acts. Right now, when I ask, it has to be very noticeable and dramatic or else Savy won't understand alot of the time.

I had a wonderful time yesterday and enjoyed it very much. I'm hoping to go to Lea's house very soon to play with her horses to!

Learning every day...

I was thinking about how much Savy has taught me. For the first year or so that I owned Savannah, I just looked at her as being my horse that I would just come and ride and then leave. I never really gave her much love. But, I was then introduced to Natural Horsemanship, and I think it really gave me a WHOLE new perspective on horses. I envied the people who had such a close relationship with their horse. I wanted so badly for my horse to love me, and not fear me when I came to get her. I also wanted to be able to do something other than riding her all the time. I wanted us to have a connection. So, I started out with Parelli Natural Horsemanship. At first I had no idea what I was doing, but then, Savy started teaching me little by little. I learned from her what it takes to be patient and gentle. That when your teaching a horse, they don't just learn it one time and then they automatically know it perfectly. I had to learn Savy's strengths and weaknesses. I had to learn what she knew and didn't know. It was a long process in the beginning. But now, I've seen everything start to pay off. I'm using more gently commands with some things, and I have a closer relationship with Savy than I've EVER had. I've also started doing other methods of Natural Horsemanship and I'm excited to learn even more. I love Savannah so much and would never trade her for anything.

So, I wanted to tell everyone to listen to your horse. See what they are saying to you. It could lead to a happier and closer relationship with them.

Time to Trust

Hello there everyone.

Just a quick update :) Savannah and I have been making SO much progress!!! Savannah and I LOVE to do traveling circles at the canter though. It's our favorite :) I am currently trying to finish up Level 2 in PNH and then I'm stopping Parelli. I want to follow my friend through other journies of natural horsemanship. But right now, Savannah is doing an EXCELLENT job with all the Natural Horsemanship she's learned so far. I'll post some pictures later on!
